Edward W. Klink III
Pastor Mickey was born and raised in Rockford, IL, where he graduated from Guilford High School. He received a B.A. from Trinity International University, M.Div. and Th.M. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Ph.D. in New Testament from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. After serving for nearly a decade as a professor of Biblical and Theological Studies at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University in southern California, he was led to transition from teaching and the professorate to preaching and the pastorate. He was called by Hope Church and became their Senior Pastor in July of 2014. He is the author of The Sheep of the Fold: The Audience and Origin of the Gospel of John (Cambridge, 2007), The Audience of the Gospels: The Origin and Function of the Gospels in Early Christianity (editor; T. & T. Clark, 2010), Understanding Biblical Theology: A Comparison of Theory and Practice (with Darian R. Lockett; Zondervan, 2012), and John in the Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament series (Zondervan, 2015). Mickey has been married to Laura since 1999, and they have three children: Jacob, Benjamin, and Ruth. He enjoys reading, camping and hiking, playing basketball, and watching the Chicago Bears.
Associate Pastor of Congregational Care & Mission
Pastor Fana was born in the Island of Samoa. After graduating High School he moved to New Zealand where he attended GLO Bible College. Here he met his wife, Elizabeth and they were married in 1993. He attended Manukau Institute of Technology and became a Registered Builder. While working, he was involved in his local church as an Elder and a preacher. In 2005 he moved with his family to pursue Seminary training in the U.S.A. He attended Talbot School of Theology at Biola University where he received an M.Div. During this time he was involved in his local church in California as a part-time Pastor of College Ministry and Pastoral Care. He then became a Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Free Church of Garden Grove in 2013. He accepted the call here in August 2015. They have three children: Liam and Peter are away at college and Laura is a Junior at Hononegah High School. He likes outdoor activities and smoking meat for family and friends.
Pastor Brad was born in California and moved to the Chicago suburbs when he was four. He attended Schaumburg High School and did undergrad work at Northern Illinois University where he majored in Finance and Marketing. This turned into a 14-year career in community banking during which he fell in love with ministry as a lay youth director for a small CMA church. He pursued seminary education at Trinity Divinity School in Deerfield, IL where he ultimately received his Masters of Arts in Religion. Brad was a part-time High School Ministry Director for New Song Church in Bolingbrook and ultimately became their full time Youth Pastor where he served on staff a total of six years. Brad was led to his position here at Hope in the fall of 2007. Hobbies include sports, movies, music (both listening, and playing bass) and spending time with his wonderful bride since 1986, Valerie. Brad and Valerie have three children – Ty, Cassi and Cory – all of whom have graduated high school and are currently pursuing college degrees.
Associate Pastor of Student Ministries & Young Adults
Greg Lynas has served in student ministry for almost 14 years, primarily within the EFCA. He has a deep passion for teaching the Word in a way that makes the truth of scripture accessible to all, and draws people into deeper personal devotion in their own lives. He is very relationally driven in ministry and wants to see students shepherded at an individual heart level. He cherishes these relational connections in the deep and challenging moments as well as the goofy relaxed times that are vital to forming genuine community. Greg has been married to Beth since 2001, and together they have 3 boys: Sam(2003), Owen(2007), and Charlie(2009). They are excited about the opportunity to plug their family into our community and can’t wait to meet the body here at Hope. Pastor Greg begins ministry work at Hope January 1, 2017.
Jim & Melissa Curtis
While Jim and Melissa are our newest staff members, joining in 2017, they are not new to Hope!
Melissa began attending Hope in 1982 when her family moved to Roscoe. She loved music as a child and enjoyed being part of Hope’s music ministry throughout jr. high, high school and college. She was a member of the choir, band and assisted with children’s choir, drama camps and teen choir.
Jim began attending Hope in 1993. He grew up in the Rockton area and also developed an early interest in music. He began playing drums in grade school and later learned guitar, both of which he enjoys today.
Jim and Melissa both graduated from Hononegah High School, in the same class! God reconnected them after college and they were married in 1994, in the old sanctuary at Hope. They have been blessed with two daughters, Abby and Lainy, who were both dedicated here at Hope – in the old sanctuary!
Jim and Melissa have been serving on the worship team in various capacities for over ten years and Melissa still sings in the choir. They have a passion for music, a love for others and most importantly God, and are thrilled for the opportunity to help lead our congregation in worship.
Vera grew up on a farm in Central Wisconsin with five sisters. She received a BA in Finance from UW Whitewater. Vera and her family started attending Hope in 1994 and has been the Children’s Ministry Director since 2007. She has taught all ages of children – from infant nursery through 5th grade. Reading, bike riding, cooking, knitting, and gardening are just a few of her hobbies. Vera and Doug have four girls – Kati, Liz, Amanda and Meghan.
Assistant to the Children’s Ministries Director
Vicky grew up in Beloit, WI, and has one sister. She married her husband Craig in 1988, and together they traveled the U.S., and Scotland, while serving in the Marine Corp for 12 years. They made their way back to Vicky’s hometown area in 2000, and have been attending Hope ever since. Vicky’s passion lies in working with children, and she has served in all facets of Children’s Ministry at Hope over these last 16 years, including director roles in Awana and Vacation Bible School. Vicky previously worked at Slavic Gospel Association as a receptionist and travel coordinator. She is currently pursuing a Business & Marketing degree from Rasmussen College. Vicky was hired on as the Assistant to the Children’s Ministry Director, in 2016, here at Hope. She and Craig have four children – 2 adult married daughters (Mallori and Emily), one daughter in college (Madalyn), and one 10 year old son (Adam). They are soon to become grandparents for the first time as well. Her hobbies and interests include reading, bible studies, bike riding, cooking, and hosting parties/events for family and friends.
Carolyn was born in Champaign, Illinois but never lived in one place longer than three years until her family moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she finished High School and College. She and her husband, Steve, moved to Roscoe in 1979. They have four children and she loves watching her family grow with two sons-in-laws, a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter and grandson. Carolyn enjoys baking as well as decorating cakes, hiking, and travel. She has been the Office Administrator since September 1994.
Dana was born and raised in Elgin, Illinois. She and her husband, Mike, moved to Roscoe in July of 1990 and have attended Hope since they moved here. Dana enjoys knitting, reading and walking. Dana became Hope’s Administrative Assistant in 2007. Along with their three boys – Tim, Kyle and Nathan – they welcomed a new daughter-in-law, Rachel in 2010.
